The Lutheran Chorale has taken many overseas trips in the past -- Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, and even Figi!.  We sing our way around the countries in various churches and other public areas, sightseeing along the way, and enjoy great fellowship with Chorale members, families, and friends.

Our next trip is in the planning stages - and right now we are putting out the feelers for interest.

This trip would probably be in June, 2018 - a Baltic Cruise on Royal Caribbean Lines.  Following is an initial sketch of a possible itinerary.  Details will be firmed up as our interested parties list becomes substantial enough to get group rates, as time gets closer.  If you are interested in joining the Chorale on this trip, please email Arlene Pellegrino at arlenecruises@gmail.comRefer back to this page for regular updates so you don't miss any deposit deadlines!

Initial sketch of trip itinerary, plus estimated cost based on Sept 2016 quotes:

Probably fly into Stockholm and depart from Amsterdam with a local European flight from Stockholm to Riga, Latvia.

ICELANDIC AIR - Just FYI - They will allow anyone in group to fly earlier to stop in Iceland for whatever time they want.  It will have to be before main group flies, in order to get to the ship on time.  Hotel rates are expensive in Iceland - we'll keep an eye out for good rates in case anyone wants to take this side-trip.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN - Go to Royal for more information on prices info and for other categories, just to get an idea of what is available and what to expect.  We will receive other perks for large group booking such as ship credits to spend on the ship for anything.  Liquor not included in quote.  All Baltic cruises get progressively more expensive in summer.

Will arrange for a meeting room to practice with a performance on the ship.

We have contact with some Lutheran pastors in Riga, Latvia to perform there.  Latvian people are known for their great love of choral singing, as well as for The Singing Revolution (which was made into a movie!) to be free from Russia when the Soviet Bloc broke up.  We would use local public transportation and hotels -- very reasonable, as is dining.

AMSTERDAM:  Anna Frank's house, Rijksmuseum of Rembrandt’s paintings, Van Gogh Museum, Rembrandt’s house, Red Light district which is a tourist attraction.

COPENHAGEN:  Palace, Tivoli Gardens

TALLINN ESTONIA:  Ancient old town of twisted lanes, local quaint restaurants, local food, and costumed waitresses, with beautiful onion dome Russian cathedral, a great day of strolling around.

SKAGEN, DENMARK:  On the Jutland Peninsula, beaches, horse riding, known for watches.

STOCKHOLM:  Ice bar with fee to get in, palace in main area, hop-on hop-off water buses all over area, ancient ship raised as museum, 25,000 islands to cruise through leaving Stockholm.

HELSINKI:  Old Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral pictured in many Helsinki travel pictures, Russian dome cathedral, ancient outdoor market at harbor (fun street foods like reindeer meatballs), very old indoor market, cheap trolley rides around the city, all within walking distance of each other.

ST. PETERSBURG RUSSIA:  Fabulous architecture - Hermitage Museum (said to take 10 years to see it all) Summer Peterhoff Palace, Peter and Paul Fortress (burial cathedral of the Tsars, including recently found bones of the murdered Tsar Nicholas and Alexander family), Cathedral of Spilled Blood (huge dome cathedral, pictured in all travelogs), and many more fabulous mansions.   [This stop requires a $150 Visa to get off the ship.  This is covered by shore excursions or local travel tour companies. No visa then required.]

We have used local tour companies on recent trips, and they have been great.  Smaller vans and will stop at a local store for you if you want to grab something.

Information about cruise costs (as quoted for 40 people) as obtained in Sept 2016.  By 2018 we would expect prices to be increased.

A nice and easy way to save up for a trip!  Open a savings account in and automatically deposit a certain amount each month just for your trip.  For instance, if you saved $100 a month for three years, you could go on a $3,600 trip every three years.
